However, it is almost impossible for the musicians who constitute the orchestra to achieve this harmony on their own. The main pillar of this harmony is the conductor of the orchestra.
The conductor may not know how to play all instruments. The value that he needs to know and distinguishes him/her as an orchestra conductor from other musicians is how all instruments should be played in harmony synchronously. The top manager in your company should be just like him/her.
Many composers who have very good pieces leave the job of conducting the orchestra to a good conductor when it comes to playing the composition. It is because composing a piece of music and performing that composition requires different features. It is just like founding a good business is different from and running that business. Delegating the works to professionals at the right time is the best solution in the business world.
How should an investor decide on the manager to work with when the right time comes?
Let us go back to our orchestra analogy for the answer to the question. What happens if you assign the best conductor in the world to a high school orchestra? Nothing will change in the short term. The high school orchestra will make much better music. But no one can expect them to be New York Philharmonic. To achieve it, each high school musician will have to work very hard to gain the required experience in this period.
Consider the vice versa of the above example. What happens if you assign a high school music teacher as the conductor of the New York Philharmonic? Not much will change in a short time. However, if they continue with the high school music teacher, they will soon play in empty concert halls rather than box-office hit performances as they cannot add something new. The audience, i.e. the customer, is never wrong and severely punishes mistakes.
Therefore, the investor must know the employee profile of the company very well to work with a manager. A manager who fits the company profile is one of the most basic steps to progress.
Of course, finding the right manager will not solve all problems. Let us consider what else could happen by going back to our orchestra analogy.
Assume that we built an orchestra and brought the best conductor in the world and assigned the best musicians in the world. But we asked the musicians to play ordinary instruments instead of investing in their instruments while building this orchestra. Of course, this orchestra will produce better music compared to the potential of their instruments; however, they will never be able to show the best performance in the world.
What would happen if we gave the best instruments in the world to the abovementioned high school musicians? These instruments would be wasted except for a few exceptions. These exceptions, on the other hand, would achieve sensational successes around the world.
To draw a conclusion for the business world, the important thing for businesses is to make technological investments according to their activities and capacity. The businesses should never be content with the less. Although higher investments sometimes result in surprise successes, preferring a thoroughly planned technological investment strategy rather than taking this risk is the best solution.
There is one more thing that should not be neglected. What kind of music will you listen to if your assign a world-renowned symphony conductor to a jazz orchestra? Have you thought of this question? I am sure it would be very interesting. But believe me, the conductor of the symphony orchestra should conduct a symphony orchestra and the conductor of the jazz orchestra should conduct a jazz orchestra. Of course, exceptions will again create worldwide changes. However, the resulting music will be neither classical music nor jazz music. The mix of the two might be something unique.
The message of this analogy is that an executive from the sector is usually much safer in the business world.
You can say that you should not do it at all if this is that much complicated. Do not say that. Everything has a method. We can also give an example from music.
The orchestras usually have a guest musician. The guest musician may be the conductor or a soloist. They usually perform together for about a week. If you are a careful audience of that orchestra, you will observe positive changes in the orchestra during and after that concert. Guest musicians have transferred some of their experiences in other orchestras to this orchestra. Therefore, orchestras accustomed to playing with guest musicians have richer and even deeper music.
In the business world, we call these guest musicians as consultants. If you consider taking a new step, if you have questions about your business, if you try to clarify your new plans for the future, or if you have unsolved chronic problems, a consultant will facilitate taking all these steps.
I hope that looking at the business world from a musical perspective will inspire investors to look at their companies from a different perspective.
